Adding Elegance and Efficiency to a Residential Home with Manual Sliding and Automatics Doors

Horton Automatic Doors have been specified by architects and designers to be used in commercial and industrial buildings for over 60 years. When Giovanna Hewitt, VP of Sales for Horton Automatics  (creators of the first automatic sliding doors!), set out to build a new home, she had some technologically innovative plans, some of which were a first for TBS Construction.

“I always wanted to have automatic doors in my house,” she says.

Giovanna had a number of ideas she wanted for her new home, with her sights set on one feature in particular.

Three manual sliding doors they added to the house are a remarkable feature, and the installation process was a new challenge for TBS. Typically used in storefronts or for ICU units due to their highly functional breakout feature, it is very rare to find this style of door in a residential building.

An automatic sliding door, installed in the garage to laundry room was the practical solution for ease of access. Existing windows and French doors were replaced by Horton manual sliding doors with break-out feature. This allowed for special size, almost full view and black aluminum finish.
